CrossFit Training Methods
CrossFit Auckland is a functional fitness training facility where machines are avoided and ‘real world’ fitness is pursued.  Our training methods are designed to foster motivation, friendly competition, and results that are far above the average.

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units – including the US Navy SEALs and US Marine Corps, and champion martial artists.  It is also used by elite athletes and thousands of regular people worldwide. We use body weight exercises, medicine balls, free weights, skipping ropes, Kettlebells and pull up bars to design constantly varied and challenging workouts suitable for any fitness or skill level.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same workouts for elderly individuals with heart disease and MMA combatants one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; and in many cases we can modify and substitute alternatives for individuals recovering from injuries.

The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Gymnasts, skiers, mountain bike riders, firefighters and housewives have found their best fitness from the same training regimen.  Thousands of athletes and regular people worldwide have followed our workouts posted daily on CrossFit websites.

 

Benefits of CrossFit Workouts
It closely mimics day-to-day tasks improving your balance and coordination, which makes it truly functional and useful exercise. It exploits and develops the strength of your core muscles (stomach, hips and lower back) bringing more control and explosive power to your movements.

CrossFit “fitness” means you can expect improvement in 10 physical attributes.  These are Cardiovascular/Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Co-ordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy.

CrossFit offers a powerful workout in less time because forcing the muscle groups to work together builds lean muscle and burns calories fast. Remember that these movements encourage the development of lean muscle, not size, and the more lean muscle you have, the more calories you’ll burn at rest and exercising – priceless in terms of losing fat.

The CrossFit Definition of Fitness
CrossFit® Inc. also publish the CrossFit Journal, designed to support the CrossFit community detailing the theory, techniques, and practices used by our coaches in our gym.

For CrossFit® Inc championing a fitness program without clearly defining what it is that the program delivers combines elements of fraud and farce. For this reason the Directors of CrossFit® provide their own definition of fitness. That’s what the free issue of CrossFit Journal is about, our “fitness.”

Pondering, studying, debating about, and finally defining fitness has played a formative role in CrossFit’s successes. The keys to understanding the methods and achievements of CrossFit are perfectly imbedded in our view of fitness and basic exercise science.
