The Zone diet is a new way of looking at food; each time you eat, the food in your meal starts a cascade of hormonal responses, which can either help or harm you. The Zone diet is based on triggering the ideal balance of hormones so fat loss in maximised, inflammation reduced and health improved.
The Zone diet is based on eating the macronutrients; protein, carbohydrate and fat in the ratio and quality we were genetically designed to eat. It is a scientifically validated eating plan.
A year long study done by Otago University showed it resulted in greater weight loss and health, and was more enjoyed than both a high protein (Atkins style) plan and the currently recommended high carbohydrate diet.
Personal Consultation
A first consultation takes 1 ½ hours. I take a full overview of medical and health problems, your weight and measurements. If you have any of the following medical tests please bring them with you:
- Cholesterol profile (total, HDL, LDL, triglycerides)
- Homocysteine
- C-Reactive protein
- HbA1c
- Blood pressure
- Body fat analysis
- Results from any other tests that may be applicable
I will work out your body fat percentage, your goal for weight loss and exactly how much you need to eat to get there. You’ll learn the principles of the Zone diet and explain how it will impact on any health problems you have. You will understand which foods to choose and why, how the Zone ratio of protein, carbohydrate and fat assists fat loss without hunger, and improves health and energy levels.
You will learn how to design Zone balanced meals, and we’ll work out a meal plan to suit your lifestyle and preferences. Supplement recommendations are also given. You will also receive the 80 page booklet ‘Zone tips for New Zealanders’.
This initial session will give you everything you need to get started on the Zone diet.
