Kettlebell Snatch

Presented by Alex Porter of CrossFit Auckland. This workshop covers fundamental Kettlebell movements that can be readily applied to the CrossFit GPP prescription. The wealth of Kettlebell knowledge at CrossFit Auckland allows a broad understanding of both traditional Girevoy style, and the popular western Hardstyle.

Also a Coach at CrossFit Auckland is Michael Roach, one of the first certified senior Kettlebell instructors in New Zealand. A Soldier in the New Zealand Army’s Territorial Force, Michael trained under, and was certified by none other than Pavel Tsatsouline – former trainer to the Russian Spetsnaz. Michael received his RKC Diploma from Tsatsouline in the US in 2006. He has acquired additional Kettlebell certifications and uses his extensive knowledge to train athletes from all walks of life.

Alex has used Kettlebells for numerous years in the conditioning of combat athletes. His CKT qualification was issued by Steve Cotter, a legend of the sport, under the IKFF federation. Alex has used his Kettlebell knowledge to good effect – from using Kettlebells in the design of CrossFit Auckland WODs to creating popular Team Training programmes.

This course is open to anyone interested in maximizing personal performance and acquiring skills to be a proficient Kettlebell participant, or for personal trainers – hone your skills.

For CrossFitter’s, you will gain the ability to effectively execute Kettlebell exercises, quickly detect and correct common errors, and safely perform Kettlebell training. In addition, it will open up a world of Kettlebell techniques that will enhance your CrossFit training.

Techniques that will be covered include:

Swing and Swing Variations:

  • Russian (Girevoy/Fluid) Swing
  • Power (Hardstyle/Rigid) Swing
  • American Swing
  • One-Arm Swing

Turkish Get-Up (TGU) and Variations:

  • Floor Press
  • Arm-Bar Stretch
  • Turkish Get-up

Clean, Jerk and Snatch Variations:

  • One-Arm Clean
  • One-Arm High Pull
  • Snatch
  • Military Press
  • Push Press
  • Jerk

You will receive a certificate of attendance at the completion of the workshop.
